I put the effort into it when it feels like something worth my time but for the most part I stick to reading a book on my Kindle, eating corn chex, and hanging with my pug. Because dating sucks so we have to play musical chairs? To me, they figured out life and marriage the right way. Men, I learned, are also as lonely or lonelier than the women but they are not as imaginative or as dedicated to finding a mate. On some occasions I had to gently coax tearful women into joining a group and help them along. Cancel 0 There has been a lot of articles and blog posts I have read recently that talk about dating in your twenties. Below is an excerpt of the TED talk along with the actual video for your viewing pleasure: These were all high-end quality people who could afford the high price of attending a nice dinner at an expensive restaurant, such as doctors, lawyers, business owners, scientists and the like. Unless you look like Blake Lively or literally have no standards whatsoever dating to me sounds really unbearable. We saw many of the same people return over and over to the events. Maybe if everyone took a more realistic approach to marriage I would stop judging so many people on Facebook. So I ask myself and you this- why are people insisting on marriage before they are 25 all of a sudden? Every event had at least 30 and sometimes 60 people so the efforts to draw men were expensive, difficult and always a struggle. One thing I learned is that women are serious about finding mates and willing to put the effort into succeeding. Can I get an amen? Instead of using age as an excuse, young adults should be using it as a motivation to get a head start. We even had a few semi-famous people who would attend from time to time. If we did nothing the men would separate from the women at the bar while the women lined the walls and talked to each other. People want and need someone in their lives. All of them involved a complex progressive dinner scheme that we struggled with for hours before every event. Last year I went on a dinner cruise on Boston Harbor for people 40 and older and there were women on board and only 40 men. We always struggled to get men to attend. It seems men may be interested in meeting women but they are far less likely to put in any effort to do anything about it. We advertised on the radio, took out ads, put articles on Craigslist and did all kinds of marketing to attract men but I would say we always had at least five times as many women who wanted to attend as men. Time to CELEBRATE with MUSICAL CHAIRS

We saw many of the same people return over and over to the events. These people were older but both the men and the women were pretty straightforward about their goals; the men were interested in sex, the women were interested in sex and relationships. There are so many events going on everywhere that draw people of all kinds; dinner cruises, tours, lectures, hikes, classes, concerts and so on and if you go to any of those events the women outnumber the men almost always by a huge margin. No one else in Boston did that. What do you have to show for it? People who are older and have been married a long time and suddenly find themselves single are often confused and frightened by finding they want and need human companionship and they no longer know how to do it, how to flirt, how to say hello. All of them involved a complex progressive dinner scheme that we struggled with for hours before every event. We saw numerous heartbreaks, we saw people using people, we saw relationships form and we knew of at least two marriages from the whole thing over three years. Many of these things are incompatible, and as research is just starting to show, simply harder and more stressful to do all at once in our 30s. We had two men get into a fistfight over a woman at a swanky bar, something that amazed me completely, to see these older men, in suits, swinging feebly at each other just for the chance to date a woman. Maybe if everyone took a more realistic approach to marriage I would stop judging so many people on Facebook.
